Home Remedies for High Cholesterol.

High cholesterol is often caused by unhealthy lifestyle such as consuming saturated fats in diet and lack of sufficient physical activity. Obesity, smoking, excessive alcoholism, aging, genetic and major conditions such as sugar, high BP, kidney disease and liver disease can increase the problem of high cholesterol too.

Cholesterol in your blood is a fatty substance that is essential for building and maintaining cells, as well as converting sun energy into vitamin D and also helps in doing other important functions. However, high levels of cholesterol, also called hypercholesterolemia, lead to unhealthy and serious health problems for your body.

Cholesterol accumulates with the walls of the artery, which increases the risk of developing heart disease.

Generally, cholesterol levels in the blood should be less than 200 mg/dl (blood pressure per millimeter). Cholesterol levels are considered between 200 and 239 mg/dl, and when it increases to 240 mg/ml/dl it is considered high cholesterol. Mostly, a test called Lipiprotein profile is taken to test the cholesterol levels of total cholesterol. In this, the combined amount of HDL, LDL and VLDL is seen.

Among them, HDL or high density lipoprotein is considered good because it takes cholesterol in the liver, where it can be reduced. Your body needs a certain amount of HDL to work perfectly, which is a very good thing. People with low levels of HDL are at higher risk of heart disease. On the other hand, LDL or low density lipoprotein is considered bad for the body. This cholesterol gets accumulated in the internal wall of the arteries as well as causing the narrowing of blood vessels.
