Stomach Cancer

What is Stomach Cancer?

Stomach cancer is also known as gastric cancer. It is a group of some extraordinary and deadly (cancerous) cells, which makes a heap in one part of the stomach. Usually it develops in the cells located in the internal stomach, and spreads over the stomach wall from time to time. Stomach cancer spreads from the abdominal wall to the adjoining organs like liver (liver), pancreatic, esophagus and intestines.

Approximately 90-95 percent of all cancers of the stomach are known as stomach adenocarcinoma. Other types of cancerous tumors such as lymphoma, gastric sarcoma, and carcinoid tumors, etc., occur in the stomach, but they are rarely seen.

During stomach cancer, some of these symptoms are manifested in this way - Problems and pain in the stomach, dizziness and vomiting, weight loss, difficulty in swallowing, bleeding in vomiting, bleeding in the stool.

The severity or phase of stomach cancer is estimated by looking at where the tumor is in the stomach, it has spread to the stomach tissues, and if it has spread in other internal organs of the body outside the stomach. .

The treatment of stomach cancer depends on the shape of its tumor and its place where it has evolved. Apart from this, the stage of the disease (severity) and general health of the patient also have great importance for the treatment.

 Types of stomach cancer.

There are four types of cancer

 1. Adenocarcinomas.
This cancer begins to develop in those cells which make the cells mucosa - it is the most superficial layer of the sputum stomach. Adenocarcinoma is a very common type of stomach cancer. In all types of stomach cancers, only 90% -95% of adenocarcinoma is found.

 2. Lymphoma.
This cancer is the cancer of the body's immune system tissue Which can grow anywhere on the stomach and lymphatic tissues. Lymphoma is very rare in stomach cancers. Compared to all other stomach cancers, it is only found to be 4%.

 3. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
It is also quite rare type of stomach cancer. It develops in a special type of cell which is found on the stomach lining, also called interstitial cells. GIST (Gastrointestinal stromal tumors) cells with the help of a microscope begin to look similar to muscles and nerve cells. Its tumor can develop anywhere in the whole digestive system, but its 60-70% of the cases are found only in the stomach.

 4. Carcinoid tumors.
It mainly develops in the stomach hormone cells. Its tumors do not spread in the stomach in other internal organs. This type of stomach cancer is found only in 3% of patients.

 Stages of stomach cancer.

Stomach cancer stages are determined on how much cancer has developed in the stomach, and how much of it has spread until it is diagnosed.

The stage of cancer is the process of detecting how much cancer has spread before diagnosing it. The stages of cancer are used to describe the spread of tumors. Stage is often done with the help of some scans and other tests.

              Stages of Stomach Cancer.

  1. Stage 1 - At this stage cancer remains limited to the tumor esophagus (esophagus) or upper layer tissue inside the abdomen. But it can happen that cancer cells have spread to some limited lymph nodes in the vicinity.

 2. Stage 2 - In this stage the cancer is spread in the esophagus or abdominal muscles more deeply. Apart from this the cancer spreads even more to the lymph glands.

3.Stage 3 - In this stage, cancer is spread throughout the esophagus or all the stomach and all the parts in the body. It can emerge as a small cancer and spread widely in the lymph glands.

 4. Stage 4 - At this stage the cancer spreads to distant parts of the body.
