Home Remedies for Flu (Influenza)

Influenza, also known as flu or grip. It is an infectious viral disease that also affects the upper respiratory system including your lungs, throat and nose. This is one of the most common health problems that people around the world suffer from it.


 According to a research, thousands of people die each year due to the complications arising from influenza. People often add influenza to the early stages of the common cold, because the symptoms of both are exactly the same. Common symptoms of influenza, such as nasal bleeding, frequent sneezing, sore throat, congestion in the nose tube, body aches, headache, high fever, dry cough, weakness and lack of appetite.


 Influenza is highly contagious and spreads rapidly from one person to another. Infectious people should stay away from the small children and the elderly because their immune system is weak. As soon as you see symptoms associated with influenza, treat it as soon as possible. Because influenza can cause ear infections, pneumonia and other health problems such as bronchitis. Determined antiviral medicines can reduce symptoms, although in many cases simple home remedies also help to reduce the symptoms of light fluid also.


 1. Honey.

 Honey is known for promoting immunity and reducing the symptoms of common flu. It contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that help in promoting the medical process.
 There are four ways to use honey for flu:

 i) Mix one spoon of honey in a glass of water and try to drink this mixture many times throughout the day.

 ii) Add one spoonful of honey to one cup of hot water. You can also add some drops of lemon juice to it. These drinks will help to remove your sputum and reduce the throat irritation and itching. Be sure to use this mixture two or three times.

 iii) You can also choose this option. First, mix honey and onion juice in equal quantity. Now make sure to mix this mixture three times a day with a spoon. And keep it until your flu is gone.

 iv) In addition, you can drink 10 to 15 fresh basil leaves with a spoon of honey mixed with the juice extracted. Take this mixture one or two times throughout the day.

 Note - Do not give honey to children younger than one year.


 2. Lemon.

 Lemon contains antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and inflammatory properties that work to reduce the flu virus present in the body. Along with this, it also removes the symptoms associated with the flu.

 How to use lemon ?

 i) Squeeze a lemon into a glass of warm water and drink it. Try to do it three or four times a day until your symptoms are low.

 ii) Also add one teaspoon lemon juice and one teaspoon honey to one cup hot water. Leave this mixture in hot water for a few minutes. Now drink this hot mixture. Drink this mixture twice a day.

 iii) Another option you can choose. First pour a sliced ​​lemon (both skin and pulp) in a cup of boiling water.  Then drink this warm hot lemonade. Make sure to use this mixture two to three times a day until your symptoms are over.

 3. Mustard.

 Treat the symptoms of mustard flu to a great extent. It is rich in antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help you recover quite quickly.

 There are two ways to use mustard for the flu:

 i) First method

 1. Take a spoon dry mustard, four spoonful of flour, white egg yolk and a little warm water. 
 2. Now after mixing this paste well, put it on a cloth.
 3. Cover the mixture with one more cloth above the top.
 4. Now put olive oil on your chest and keep this mustard cloth on your chest.
 5. After few minutes remove this cloth from the chest. Now clean the chest with some hot clothes.
 6. If you do not have any kind of irritation with warm clothes, then you can leave it felt like this for 15 minutes.
 7. Use this mixture to repeat this mixture once a day.

 ii) Second method

 1. In addition, add hot water to a large bucket and add one spoon of mustard.
 2. Now keep your foot in this mixture until the water gets cold.
 3. This will improve the blood circulation of your feet and it will also be easy to open the closed nose. Use this mixture twice a day.

 4. Ginger.

 Ginger is a popular natural remedy for many health problems. Ginger also eliminates influenza from root. It has effective anti-inflammatory properties as well as its warming nature treats different symptoms of the flu. 
Apart from this, it helps to strengthen the immune system to fight the virus.

 There are three ways to use ginger for flu -

 i) First way

  1. Add one or half cup of spoonfuls of ginger in a cup boiling water.
  2. Keep it boiling for a few minutes.
  3. After boiling, add honey and drink this mixture.
  4. Make sure to use this mixture three or four times.

 ii) Second way

 1. Mix two teaspoons ginger paste and one teaspoon red chili powder together. 
 2. Now put a spoonful of paste of this mixture into hot water.
 3. Leave this mixture boiling for a few minutes.
 4. Peel the mixture after boiling.
 5. Try to drink this mixture several times throughout the day.

 iii) Third way

 1. First make a fresh ginger paste.
 2. Now taste some amount of paste. 
 3. Repeat this paste several times throughout the day.
 4. With this, you can also use ginger paste and eat it in soup.

 5. Garlic.

 Garlic is a very beneficial for influenza due to its natural antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Allicin is present in it, which helps in increasing immunity. Garlic helps to relieve various flu symptoms.

 There are three ways to use garlic for the flu -

 i) First way.

 1. Cut off two or three fresh garlic clove crush it.
 2. Now put them in a cup of hot water.
 3. Leave it boiling for 10 minutes.
 4. After the boiling, filter the mixture and then drink it like tea and drink it. 
 5. Make sure to use this mixture three or four times throughout the day.

 ii) Second way.

 1. You can also chew a raw garlic.
 2. Or a teaspoon of garlic juice can drink with water.
 3. Use this mixture several times throughout the day.

 6. Fenugreek.

 Fenugreek is used as a natural home remedy for influenza because it contains strong antiviral and other medicinal properties.

 There are three ways to use fenugreek seeds for flu

 i) First way

 1. Boil one or half-fourth part water.
 2. Now add one spoon of fenugreek seeds.
 3. Now keep it boiling. Boil it until it becomes one-third.
 4. After the boiling, filter the mixture and add one teaspoon ginger juice and a few drops of honey.
 5. Drink this mixture.
 6. Use it for three or four times throughout the day.

 ii) Second way.

 1. Soak one spoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water in the night. 
 2. Now filter this mixture in the morning and keep the remaining water for boiling.
 3. Blend with this mixture so that your throat genre is fine.
 4. Make sure to use this mixture two or three times throughout the day for a few days.

 7. Peppermint

 Mint is another herb which is widely used to fight flu symptoms. It is full of nutrients which helps the body fight infection. The use of this saves the throat.
 1. Put a spoonful of mint leaves in a cup of hot water. Keep it boiling for 10 minutes. Now filter this mixture and then mix the honey in it. Then drink this tea hot. For quick relief, use this mixture for two or three cups of the day.

 2. You can also use mint leaves in salad or soup as well.
